Our palm leaf plates and bowls are made from naturally fallen areca palm leaves collected by local farmers in the South Indian and Sri Lankan regions. The leaves are carefully washed in spring water and heat-pressed into the desired shapes. These products are 100% natural, safe, and environmentally friendly.

Are your palm leaf products sustainable?

Yes! No trees are cut down during the process. Areca palm trees naturally shed leaves about eight times a year, making this a sustainable and renewable resource.

Are any chemicals added during the manufacturing process?

No, we do not use chemicals, additives, toxins, or polish during the manufacturing process. Only water and heat are used.

Do the plates have a natural aroma?

Yes, each plate retains the natural aroma of the areca palm leaves. No artificial scents are added at any stage of manufacturing.

Are any trees harmed to source raw materials?

Not at all. We only use naturally fallen leaves that have completed their life cycle. The raw material is completely sustainable, and no trees are harmed in the process.

Why do no two plates look exactly the same?

Each palm leaf is unique, so no two plates will look identical. Variations in color, texture, and pattern are natural features of our eco-friendly products. Some plates may have discolored spots or irregular shades, adding to their beauty and individuality.

Can Eco Leaf Products' tableware be used in microwaves, ovens, and fridges?

Yes! Our palm leaf plates are:

• Microwave-safe for up to 2 minutes at 800W.
• Oven-safe for around 30 minutes at 180°C.
• Safe for fridge storage.

The food will not react with the product material.

How strong is the palm leaf dinnerware?

Our plates and bowls are extremely sturdy and can handle full meals, making them ideal for buffets and events. They are much stronger than bagasse or paper plates and will not bend, snap, or sag under the weight of food.

Are Eco Leaf Products' plates expensive?

Not at all! Despite being eco-friendly and durable, our plates are competitively priced and often more affordable than other options of similar strength. They are suitable for business use in food outlets, hotels, and restaurants.

How do I dispose of used plates and bowls?

Our products are biodegradable and compostable. Since they contain no bonding agents, wax coatings, or chemicals, they decompose into nutrient-rich compost.

• Home composting: Dispose of them in your backyard composting bins.
• Regular disposal: If composting is unavailable, they can be thrown into regular trash or food waste bins, where they will naturally break down in landfills.

How long does it take for palm leaf plates to decompose?

Our plates decompose fully within 6-8 weeks, depending on factors like composting methods, humidity, and heat.

Are Eco Leaf Products' plates compostable?

Yes, they are 100% compostable, as detailed in the previous points.

Are the plates suitable for outdoor events?

Absolutely! Our palm leaf tableware is premium quality, designed for export to European markets. They are durable enough for outdoor events and will not bend or break under normal use.

Can I clean and reuse the palm leaf products?

While our plates and bowls are designed for single use, they can be reused in certain cases, especially after serving dry foods. For non-sticky or non-curry items, simply wash them with hot water or wipe them clean.

Why are some products wrapped in plastic?

We understand this may seem contradictory for an eco-friendly product, but as a natural material, palm leaves absorb moisture from the environment, which can warp or deform the plates without proper protection. While we have experimented with plant-based alternatives like cellulose, we haven’t yet found a viable solution.
